Our range

The entire AILIM range is designed around the same sound process and technical signature: the spruce soundboard produces the high and mid frequencies, while the subwoofer completes the sonic balance in the low frequencies. The required energy is supplied by an integrated amplifier with four presets.

AILIM

The sound system created by a luthier.

A subtle blend of traditional lutherie, the delicacy of resonance spruce and technical innovation, offering everyone a true musical companion.

Its design honours the beauty of wood while combining it with technology. Carefully designed with the finest materials, it adapts to every situation. At home, with family or friends, at a celebration, concert, assembly or presentation, AILIM is by your side.

At the heart of this sound system is a resonance spruce membrane, giving it incomparable tonal richness and warmth. That is the magic of this jewel. Resonance spruce is the soul of AILIM, and this conifer gives it its name: “AILIM” means spruce in Celtic.

Each AILIM is handcrafted from a noble wood species, chosen for its beauty and making every model unique. The sound does not simply come out: it takes root, rises and comes alive.

The material

Resonance spruce

This tree is renowned and highly sought after for its acoustic properties. It comes from three of the world’s carefully managed forests. Luthiers have prized it for their creations for centuries. The soundboards of the famous Stradivarius instruments, for example, are made from this noble wood.

Objective selection criteria mingle with the tree picker’s instinct and experience. Every external detail must be examined - the roundness, bark and traces of life - while sensing what cannot be seen: the internal structure, its history and, above all, its musical potential.

The result is relaxed, resonant and regular wood with perpendicular, ultrafine grain, for which respect for lunar phases and time is of the highest importance. This may be where the use of wood’s properties reaches its greatest refinement: a grail for a professional of this material.

The luthier

Its creator

Jeanmichel Capt was born and lives in the Vallée de Joux, at the entrance to the beautiful Risoud Forest. For more than 30 years, he has devoted his life to lutherie, particularly the construction of acoustic and electric guitars.

He invented the Soundboard, a loudspeaker system that already uses a spruce membrane. In the same field, he developed the Acoustic Docking Station, a passive system for amplifying the sound of a mobile phone.

His experiences and many enriching encounters inspired him to create, with the same philosophy, a mobile, active sound system: a wooden membrane to amplify an instrument with a wooden soundboard. The ideal companion for a travelling musician and an acoustic instrument.

This is how he developed AILIM. With the addition of a woofer, AILIM ultimately became a complete sound system for every situation, distinguished by its warm, woody sound.

The making

Its producer

Mivelaz Techniques Bois SA is a family business producing timber structures, founded in 2002. With several thousand completed projects and state-of-the-art technical facilities, the company has extensive experience in its field.

Its founders, Catherine and David Mivelaz, are both passionate about music and craftsmanship and deeply appreciate the beauty of wooden creations. These two interests led them to Jeanmichel Capt in 2015. Collaboration naturally followed, with the aim of optimising and producing AILIM systems.

The first series of AILIM systems left our Gruyère workshop in 2025. For several years, the company has also sourced exceptional wood slabs, making it possible to offer unique models with strong personalities alongside the classic models.

Producing AILIM is a pleasure because it is a rare, exceptional, handcrafted, high-end, unique and moving product.
